Here are some pictures of our mobiles as we are getting ready to put them together.

We are so glad you are here!

This is a place for you to view art created by students through the Carl Sandburg PTA Art Enrichment Program and the Sandburg Art Docent Program.

Within the school day:
Students inKindergarten through 5th grade receive extra art instruction once a month during their regular classroom times.

Outside of the school day: Students in all grades are welcome to sign up for after school art classes held Tuesdays and Fridays. These classes are sponsored Amy Friedman's Smart with Art program.

Line -- extension of a point

Shape -- two dimensional space or area

Color -- illusory phenomena of light

Texture - surface quality

Pattern -- repeated line or design

Value -- light to dark

Form -- three dimensional and space or volume

Composition -- placement of line, shape, color, texture, etc.

Principles of Visual Art

Emphasis -- focal point

Variety -- change

Harmony -- agreement between elements and symbols

Balance -- equal distribution

Movement -- attention of one aspect to another

Theme -- subject

Oil pastels, chalk, drawing pencil, paint, marking pens, watercolor, paper, fabric, clay, weaving, mixed media, etc.

Cross Curriculum

Art will be used as a continuation and expansion of the basic grade level curriculum.
